Books and Blackmail

The dream was always the same. He was sitting in the library, falling asleep among the books; when she would show up.

Normally he would get so flustered he would wake up. But not tonight. Tonight he was going to dream out this dream and see what would happen.

Jack curled up beneath his blankets and willed himself to sleep.

A few moments later, he was woken up by Meghan knocking on the door. He tried to ignore her but when he didn't answer to her knocks, Meghan came in and pulled off his blankets.

“Meghan!” Jack said in a whispered tone. “What are you doing? I could have been naked for all you knew.”

“You, sleep naked? Jack, you and I both know that would never happen.” Meghan rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand. Pulling him out of bed, Meghan spoke again. “Besides, this is more important than that. I have something to show you which you will love.”

Jack shook his head. “No. I am not leaving this room. Do you know how much trouble we will be in if we are caught?”

“Oh please. Where is your sense of adventure?”

“Meghan, you and I both know I never had a sense of adventure.”

“Please come with me? You'll enjoy yourself. I know you will. All we are doing is going down to the library. That's it.” Meghan put on her best puppy dog face as she tried to talk Jack into joining her.

Jack resolved to stay firm. He was not going to leave with Meghan. He was not leaving his room.

Meghan started to whimper.

“No! I am not leaving. I am not... Oh alright. What is it you wanted to show me?”

Meghan led Jack through the school to the library. Motioning for him to remain quiet, Meghan led him through the aisles of books, stopping just before they reached the study area.

Moans filled the air and Jack's eyes widened in the realization of what people where doing in amongst his books.

“Who is that?” Jack asked, his eyes firmly staring away from the study area.

“It's Aaron and Diana. Apparently she has a thing for libraries, just like you.” Meghan turned to face Jack. “Oh come on, don't be a wuss. It's not like they're naked.”

Jack paled at the thought. “It sounds as if they soon will be.”

“Oh, don't worry. They won't foul up your precious books.” Meghan snickered. “I doubt Aaron would know how to anyway.”

“Oh no! Please, no! I do not wish to think about that.” Jack closed his eyes against the impending images.

Meghan grabbed his hand and pulled him back to the door of the library.

When they were in the hallway, far away from Aaron and his lady of the week, Jack turned on Meghan. “Why would you think I would like to see that! Not only were they fouling up my library but I doubt I will be able to look Aaron in the eyes ever again.”

Meghan burst out laughing. “Yes, but the look on your face was priceless.”

Jack glared at Meghan as she attempted to stop laughing. “Was that the only reason for you to bring me down here?”

Meghan shook her head and took a few deep breaths. After several false starts where she began laughing, she managed to get out. “I needed someone else to see what Aaron is getting up to. He has threatened to get me in trouble for the last time.”

“Why is Aaron threatening to get you in trouble? He's your friend. And while he and I complain about getting into trouble, we are usually there with you. Getting you in trouble would get him in trouble as well.”

“I doubt he cares anymore. But with this, he will be the only one getting in trouble.” Meghan shot Jack a triumphant smirk.

“I won't be a part of this plan. I refuse. Aaron is my friend as much as you are. I won't do it.”

Meghan rolled her eyes. “You don't have to do anything. This is just to make sure Aaron doesn't get us all in trouble. After all, if I get in trouble Jack, you get in trouble too.”
